About

Bio ~ Ryan Hammett | “A gamer/author/composer. To sum it up, I’m a Nerd.”

Hello! My name is Ryan Hammett, also known as Larke or Larke12 on the interwebs, and I am a gamer/author/composer. I play video games like The Legend of Zelda and Assassin’s Creed or
Kingdom Hearts and some more Zelda (when I get the time too). I can play melodies on a Yamaha PSR E323 keyboard which I’m limited to playing mostly Zelda melodies and Kingdom Hearts songs. I grew up in Bel Air, Maryland and went to Homestead-Wakefield Elementary school until 2002. In this time I acquired my fear of dogs and a long life I have since forgotten. I was too shy for my age and had a plethora of health issues, none of which are threatening my health today. I also broke my thumb from a bicycle accident.

In 2003, at the age of 7, me and my family moved to PA which is amazing! I went to Stewartstown Elementary school in 2002 for one year. I noticed in 2003 that the graduating year was always the same as the grade I was in. For example, in 2007 I graduated from 7th grade and in 2012 I graduate from 12th grade. At the beginning of 2003 in 4th grade my mom put me and my sister into private school. From this day forward I began searching for who I really was, and I wanted to forget everything I could about living in Bel Air and the fear of dogs among other things. I had a plethora of fun in Christian school and spent most of my time goofing off with friends.

In 2007 we went back to South Eastern School District and I’ve spent  the rest of my school career here (8-12th grade). Since returning I have found who I really am, survived the “I know everything” years, and made many new friends. I began writing in 2007 and began arranging music in early 2009. I’ve always been a gamer, but until I began watching G4TV religiously in 2007 I was out of the loop. On November 1, 2010 my life took a drastic turn. I began going crazy and had no clue what to do since DirecTV dropped G4TV. I made it through until late December when I got a job. It was at a place I did not like, far from home, and far from simple. Since then the feeling I got that November day has vanished and I’ve found better things to do.

Keyboard

I love video game music! Especially The Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, and Super Mario Galaxy music among many, many other great soundtracks. I still have a love for Rock music including Rise Against, Flyleaf, and most notably Linkin Park among some other great bands. Music is my life, and my life means very much to me. I only wish music could cure more than just my headaches. I love Zelda Reorchestrated (ZREO Team) and all of their projects. They have really inspired me and I love to tell others about them, as well as talking to them myself. :^D

I’m extremely happy with my life nowadays. Senior year will go strong, and a job gets me some money. My only bad habit is I still take everything for granted. That is the only phrase I still can’t comprehend, and I never will (but I always say, never say never). SREO is a project I wish to restart, but I have no access to MIDI or the school’s Music Technology room. I hope I can change that. I hope I can put more here. 2012 is just a date, right? Right?

My dream is to become a Game Designer and create games that are inspired by the very same games that raised and inspired me. I’m not in it for the money, I want to have fun and make some great video games for the everyone. Including the next generation of gamers.

The Forum Age

I have some amazing forums you should check out. These forums have the most nicest and most hospitable communities above all others. I started my “forum age” on Zentendo (now called Gemakei) to get closer to the group Zelda Reorchestrated (ZREO). I spent most of my time there and had so much fun. I’m friends with most, if not all of the people in the Gemakei  Community and even participated in my first (and last as of August 2011) RP. The RP was Pokemon themed and I had a blast.

While I was on Gemakei I joined in on the LegendZelda.net community and had so much fun it was sad to leave. I spent some time as a Media Manager for the main site, but found it incredibly difficult with the tools I had at my disposal. After taking a “hiatus” from Gemakei for a short time Radio Hyrule (recently called WZMR World Zelda Music Radio) started a forum on Zelda Eternity’s forums. They were a great group of people and won awards for the most lively forums for a Zelda fan site. How awesome is that? A few months after all this I began visiting Lemmy’s Land Forums (LLF).

To go back to Gemakei, I found a Java IRC chat on the forums . I began talking to the members of ZREO and some time later a member of the network, named ETFROXX, showed me a lively chat that was for LLF. I made an account and many months later I began posting regularly. I intend to make a post to each of these sites and I will say my farewell, but I’m not really leaving. I’m just going to drop in every once in a while. Edit that, I made the posts and all is good. I can jump in on a slow weekend and catch up with friends. They are all really good people.

Bio ~ Larke12 | The name I go by on the Internet.

Larke12 began as a small project really. I wanted a nickname for games that saved records like Need For Speed III. My dad’s nick was RATT, his first initial and letters from our last name. I started with RyanH; then during my time playing CTR (Crash Team Racing) for the third time it was RyanH_9; and when I was 12 (get it, 12) I changed it to RyanH__12.During Bible class in Private school I began experimenting with Light and Dark (my obsession with Jak 2 and 3) and wrote down Dight, Dwight, Lark and Lirk. Lark stood out and I had no clue it was a bird, or even a girl’s name!

Avatar 2011

So I began using Lark 12 (Yes! There is a space between k and 1!). After many years of that nick I wanted something new to use. I threw away Lark 12 and began using Din14 (I was 14). That lasted no more than a month. I got Lark 12 back and by this time I knew it was a bird and a girl’s name.  I decided to add an ‘e’ due to some strange idea. It has many meanings, anything from ‘electronic’ to ‘empty’ to ‘even’. I kept the 12 and thought about changing it when I turned 16 (nope!). The 12 signifies many things. I attempted to change at the age of 12 and finally figured everything out a few years later. Lastly, how do you say it? Larke12 is pronounced ”Lark Twelve”, though friends call me Larke which is pronounced like ”Larky”.  So there we have it! I started by copying my father and ended up with Larke12. Larke12 defines who I am.
