Minuets to Midnight

(original story for Project LoL version 1.0, Midnight version 3.1)

“I still remember that day. That day changed everything; it changed my life more than just by finding the stone. It was a nice afternoon; I was on Ziggy’s prototype air board, trying it out…” said Lark.

“So, how’s’ it feel? Awesome or what?” said Ziggy.

“Great it’s almost perfect.” said Lark.

“What do you mean, almost!? What is wrong with it? Or is it just you?!” said Ziggy.

“Let’s say me! You overreact too much.” said Lark.

Lark swerved side to side as she got closer to a large castle in the middle of a cornfield.

“Huh, what’s a castle doing out here?” Lark got closer and flew backwards off her board.

“Look out for that energy source, thought you could see it.” said Ziggy. Lark looked up and saw his board flying towards him.

“What’s going on!” said Lark.

Lark had a device in her ear that Ziggy had made. It opens up so an eye piece comes out and it shows Lark everything Ziggy can see on his computer monitor. It also allows Lark to listen to Ziggy.

“See him?” said Ziggy.

“Yeah, now we get serious!”

“It looks like a dragon.” said Lark.

“Yeah, a big one.” said Ziggy. The dragon ran towards Lark who was on his board, and flew straight up into the air.

“This board is pretty good. Let’s give it a kick!” Lark flew down towards the dragon and smashed him to the ground.

“Ziggy, find out why that castle is there.”

“On it!”

“I think it’s time to end this battle!” said Lark. She jumped off her board and started coming down towards the dragon when she heard a voice come from inside the dragon.

“Help…” said the voice.

“What, who was that?” said Lark. She landed on the dragon’s head and jumped off.

“This isn’t going to be easy, is it?” said Lark.

“Is it ever?” Ziggy’s voice startled Lark.

“Don’t scare me like that man.”

“Sorry, listen I found out why the castle is there.”

“Let’s hear it.”

“This castle is here for the prince of darkness, and was built by another man. Neither are in my files.”

“Um, I think we have a problem. The dragon is–is growing!”

The dragon grew to tower over 50 meters within seconds.

“Help, Help us please!” said the voice.

“That voice sounds so familiar? Who is that?” said Lark.

The dragon opened its mouth and sucked Lark up with hurricane force winds.

“This is more like a giant robot.” Lark jumped down the throat and landed on an invisible floor.

“Hello! Is there anyone here!? Hello!?” screamed Lark.

“This room needs some li-ah!!” Lark became startled by all the people in the room.

“Wow. That’s a lot of people, 18 to be exact.” Lark tried looking for any familiar faces.

“Did anyone here scream help?” Lark noticed someone walking towards her.

“I did.” said a girl with her head down.

“Emily!’

“Um, Lark, we kind-a-sorta have to hurry!” said Ziggy.

“Right, now to get out of here we need…” Lark shined with a bright white light.

“What are you doing?” said Emily.

“Just watch.” Lark held a sword that seemed as if it was enveloped in light. Lark ran towards the wall and cut a hole to the outside.

“Wow that’s bright.” said Lark covering her eyes. Se jumped out and looked up at the beast. She jumped up towards the head of the giant dragon and slashed it with great speed and power. The dragon fell to the ground and lay silent.

“Glad that’s over.” said Lark as she came to the ground.

“Nice job I say, nice job.” said a man in a black cloak, “You really ought to fix that problem of yours.” The man smirked.

“Oh, what problem is that?” said Lark.

The man chuckled with his face still hidden.

“Finally came to finish what you started?”

“Ah ha ha, as if! Unfortunately, I have a lot on my to-do list. You don’t know what you are getting yourself into. I just wanted you to see a new friend of mine. I’ll be happy to watch this fight. Lets see how strong you really are!” The man disappeared along with the castle and the dragon before reappearing in the sky.

“No words before your final battle?” the man laughed, “Say hello to your new playmate, Ekral!!”

“Ziggy are you ready!?” Lark waited for an answer, but everything was quite. On the other end, Ziggy couldn’t hear Lark either.

“We need to fix that!” said Lark. Suddenly a dark figure appeared. It looked like a shadow image of Lark.

“This is not good.” said Lark.

“It can’t talk, but it is a good fighter!” said the man. Ekral pulled out a sword as Lark summoned hers.

All of the sudden they vanished into an underground cavern.

“Let’s end this!” said Lark as her voice echoed

Lark took a step forward and Ekral jumped into the air. Lark ran in the opposite direction. They ran towards each other, doing the same thing as the other. Lark would swing from the right, and Ekral would swing from its right.

“What?!” Lark looked as Ekral jumped to the ceiling of the cavern. It jumped down and hit Lark with its foot sending Lark backwards.

“Lark!” screamed Ziggy.

“Ah, what!” said Lark, “I’m a little busy at the moment.”

“That man was messing with my connection to you, so-”

“So what is it?”

Lark looked at Ekral. It stood in silence, like a mirror image of Lark.

“I need you to find out who that man is and what he is doing before it’s too late. Can you do that?”

“Yes. I’ll do that ASAP!”

“Just you and me know Ekral!” said Lark. Lark jumped up to the ceiling hanging on to the pillar that stood on the ground of the cavern. Ekral floated in the air, where another pillar used to be.

“A copy cat…” She jumped down in front of Ekral who had followed. Lark put her sword in front of her own face. Ekral followed along as Lark appeard to stab herself, and Ekral followed. Ekral backed away and fell to the ground as it started to evaporate.

“Finally. Ziggy did you find out what that man is up to?” Lark waited patiently as the rock around him became evanescent.

“You are getting on my nerves Lark!” Dark suddenly zapped Lark to the ground. “What’s the matter, too weak to fight? I’ll deal with you later!” Dark picked Lark up with an invisible force and threw her across the field. Lark laid there and watched as a man appeared in front of Dark.

“Welcome, Mr. Damo. Glad you could make it. I’m honored to be in the presence of such a legendary architect.” Dark bowed.

“I could say the same.” said Mr. Damo.

“Kate! Come at once!” Dark screamed as a girl came out of the trees. She looked like a girl dressed up as a cat for Halloween, but it looked too real.

“Yes Master.” She bowed looking at Lark in a surprised way.

“Take these blue prints to the hideout, well have a new place to reign from soon enough.” Dark smirked. Kate disappeared along with Dark and Damo.

Emily came over to Lark, “Are you okay?” Emily said in a soft voice.

Lark got up. “Yea, I’m good.” Lark smiled and looked at the sunset.

“You should go home now.” said Emily.

“What about you?”

“I called my mom, she’ll pick me up.” Lark walked over to pick up her air board. She looked around and Emily had vanished.

Lark got on her air board and flew away. As the sky grew ever darker.
